Work Permits

In California, students under 18 must obtain a work permit to be employed.

Head over to the Career Center in Room P-2 for more information!

Approval Process

Secure a job offer.
Complete the work permit application.
Submit the application to the Career Center in P-2.
Obtain approval.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be under 18 years old and enrolled in school.
Maintain a minimum GPA (often 2.0 or higher).
Have good school attendance and behavior.
Be employed in a legal job (certain jobs, like newspaper delivery or working for parents, may have different rules.

Important Notes

Work permits are typically valid for the school year and must be renewed when they expire.
Students cannot work during school hours unless enrolled in a work experience education program.
